Rockin’ Showcase at Rivals

...or how my shy teen transformed in the spotlight

By Tammy McKillip October 2, 2017

Kudos to Easton and Allentown School of Rock teens and kiddos on their FABULOUS rock-n-roll showcase at Rival’s Sports Bar and Restaurant last weekend! As a proud parent, I can tell you quite honestly that I was really NOT expecting these kids to be so polished and professional. I mean, my kid has been rehearsing for the past three months with the band, but he never lets me hear him sing at home, so I was completely blown away by his and his bandmates’ confidence and skill as they rocked their way through two sets of the “Show on a Stick” show in downtown Easton. Wow! They were really, really good! (They were also really, really loud—just like the professionals!!!)

If your kid is at all musically-inclined, I highly recommend the School of Rock at 19 S. Bank Street. The lessons are immersive, and the kids are required to join a performance group after their first three months, so they learn by doing, which is great.

I don’t know what they said to my son to break him out of his shell, but once he was in that spotlight, he lost all of his shyness and rocked the stage. Bravo!

There wasn’t a dud in the bunch—every single kid and teen on that stage was ready to be there. I was so impressed by them all!
