Easton Farmers’ Market Rings In Its 267th Birthday with Free Cake!

Celebrate Heritage Day and EFM's birthday this weekend downtown.

July 12, 2019

Easton Farmers’ Market is throwing a birthday party so big that they need two giant cakes just to feed the guests! From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, you’re invited to celebrate the 267th birthday of Easton Farmers’ Market with delicious eats, live music, and family-friendly fun.

Organizers won’t try to squeeze 250+ candles onto the cake, but they will serve up free slices for market guests, while supplies last. The cake is generously provided by Tomblers Bakery and The Modern Crumb. Join Mayor Sal Panto Jr., Representative Bob Freeman and Easton’s Town Crier, David Rose, in singing Happy Birthday at 10 a.m., before the cake is served. While you’re there, check out a collection of historic photos of the market, provided by the Sigal Museum.

Earl the Accordionist will be strolling through the market from 9-10 a.m. and the Twin River Rounders will perform from 10 a.m. to noon in the Music Tent. Families with little ones can visit with Balloons the Clown (10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) and track down the market’s mascot, Sunny, who will be handing out free gifts.

Kids can also stop by the Power of Produce (POP Club) tent to design a page of the market’s birthday book. Participants who write or draw their favorite thing about the market will receive two dollars in POP bucks to shop for their favorite fruits and veggies.

As Easton Farmers' Market acknowledges its past, it's also honoring its future on Saturday as its Easton Compost Program rings in its first birthday. Visitors can stop by the Compost Tent to learn about the program and enroll. Participants within city limits can get a 5-gallon bucket for free; those outside the city can purchase one for $20. Easton Compost Program participants can bring their food waste to the market each Saturday to be dumped in a bin behind the Easton Public Market and be turned into nutrient-rich compost. Compost giveaways are offered throughout the year for participants.

Guest vendors for the birthday celebration include Owowcow Creamery and Weyerbacher Brewing. The market will also serve as host for Northampton County’s Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program voucher distribution from 9 a.m. to noon.
