CHECK OUT Museum Passes at The Phillipsburg Free Public Library!

By Melissa Bigelli, EAMK Contributor February 14, 2020

Thanks to the generosity of the Friends of the Phillipsburg Free Public Library, the Phillipsburg Free Public Library is pleased to present the Museum Pass Program. This gives families free or discounted admission to a bunch of day trips in our area. Museum passes may be reserved by adult cardholders in good standing. Reservations can be made up to 60 days in advance and can be made online, in person, or over the phone.

One of our favorite places to visit with the Museum pass is the Bucks County Children’s Museum in New Hope. With various hands-on exhibits that help kids learn about science, history, and day-to-day life, this museum is one of the fun things to do in New Hope with kids. The Bucks County Children’s Museum has many various sections and themes. Some of the exhibits focus on history and science. Others concentrate on pretend play. There is a section where kids can dig for dinosaur bones. Another display educates children about recycling. If your child has extra energy, they can climb a rock wall or slide downslide.  The museum promotes the idea of STEAM learning. Some of the exhibits focus on design and engineering. Other displays teach kids about different forms of energy, such as wind and electricity. The wind power exhibits are very popular with kids. They spend a lot of time running back and forth to catch handkerchiefs! This was a huge hit with my daughters, ages 4 and 6.

There are two rooms dedicated to imaginative play. The rooms contain businesses like a general store, ice cream stand, diner, and hospital. This section of the museum is always busy, with kids serving up their favorite dishes and distributing the mail. When it’s time for your check-up, head over to the doctor’s office to learn about bones and organs in the extra-large “Operation” table. The Bucks County Children Museum is designed for children of all ages. Although big kids can enjoy themselves at the museum, kids aged 2-6 would probably enjoy it the most.  Our next venture with the Museum Pass will be Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. We will be sure to pass on that trip with our Macaroni Kid Family!
