Family Friendly At It's Finest!

CHECK OUT the Acadia Inn in Bar Harbor, ME

By Rebecca R - Easton, PA Area publisher September 5, 2024

This past July MacKID Easton headed north for an unforgettable experience in Maine. We stayed in several places along the Atlantic coast of Maine, but Bar Harbor was our absolute favorite. This had everything to do with the gorgeous scenery in Acadia National Park, but also our fabulous four night sponsored stay at the Acadia Inn. The Acadia Inn is one of six  Witham Family Hotels in Bar Harbor. Witham Family Hotels perfectly align with Macaroni Kid as a family owned local business who put families at the forefront! As stated on the website, the Acadia Inn strives to be “Your Home Away From Home” and we immediately felt that upon check in.

We were greeted by friendly staff who made check-in a breeze, provided information about the Island Explorer shuttle schedule, and offered us free cookies (available nightly), tea, coffee and water (available throughout the day).

Our two queen room was spacious and beautifully appointed with natural tones and gorgeous framed photos of Acadia National Park. We also had a lovely view of the pool and backyard! After having just stayed in two other hotels we can confidently say that this bathroom with shower/tub combo was the most spacious!

The kids were so excited to be greeted by two new friends, a lobster stuffy and a black bear stuffy, each with an accompanying children's book. It was amazing to see and experience the "Bedtime Story Package" offered by the Acadia Inn which parents and caregivers can purchase to add something special to the stay for children. Next, we noticed a Taste of Maine box which included a Whoopie Pie, Vintage Maine Chips, Needhams, and Blueberry Soda. Everything was delicious. Thank you, Acadia Inn, for these special touches!

Want to explore other fun Acadia Inn offerings? Parents, need some extra space in those queen beds? Acadia Inn also offers a Kids Kampout option which can be added to your stay. Upon arrival, kids will excitedly burst into the room to find a tent, sleeping mat, and lantern all set up just for them! What a cool way for kids to experience a camping adventure right in their room! Don’t want to pack all those toiletries? Acadia Inn offers a Kiddie Bath Kit complete with step stool, tear free shampoo, and rubber ducky! How fun!

After a great sleep we enjoyed our first of many complimentary continental breakfasts. The kids loved the delicious pre packaged waffles, fresh fruit, cereal, and, the biggest hit, packets of Nutella. Parents enjoyed the hot offerings like, coffee/tea eggs, sausage, oatmeal, etc. After breakfast we enjoyed the free activity offered for the day: make your own trail mix. We all LOVED this and the trail mix was the perfect salty/sweet snack for our hike up Bowl Trail later that morning!

Upon our return each evening we enjoyed the heated pool, hot tub, playground, and fire pit on S’Mores night! Luca was also playing on outdoor movie night during our stay! Interested in celebrating a birthday or other special event during your visit? You can!  During our stay we witnessed the staff setting up for a birthday party right in the backyard!

Another incredible free amenity that we enjoyed was the access to the Island Explorer Shuttle which stopped right at the front door. A few quick stops later we were at the Village Green in the center of Bar Harbor. This perk allowed us to leave our car behind (free onsite parking) and have a stress free visit to town which is just a mile away from the Acadia Inn!

Need a dinner recommendation? Just ask the front desk! We’re glad we did as we enjoyed a plate clearing, delicious meal at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel (also a Witham Family Hotel property) right across the street. We were grateful for this solid recommendation that kept us from randomly selecting a Bar Harbor restaurant which might not have met our expectations.

Want to walk or run right into Acadia National Park and check out the Carriage Road System? You can when you access the Duck Brook Path right from the backyard of the Acadia Inn.

Other special touches - Incredibly friendly staff who always said hello and engaged our family in conversation, flavored water available all day, commitment to sustainability, turn down service, bocce ball, complimentary children’s Acadia activity books in the lobby, Island Explorer shuttle information, brochures, and other maps, etc.

Please also check out the other Witham Family Hotels in Bar Harbor: Atlantic Oceanside Hotel, Bar Harbor Grand Hotel, Bar Harbor Inn, Bar Harbor Motel, Bar Harbor Villager Motel.

We hope this article can express just how thoroughly we enjoyed our four night stay at the Acadia Inn. We cannot wait to stay again and also talked about visiting the other Witham Hotels including a couples weekend at the Bar Harbor Inn! We really believe you will love these hotels too! A special shout out to Rachel from Witham Family Hotels for helping us arrange this sponsored stay and for the lovely tour! And to the amazing staff at the Acadia Inn, thank you for making our stay so special, and truly allowing us to feel at home.
