Camp Hoover has been providing transformative summer experiences for Girl Scouts since 1953. Nestled on 340 acres of lush forests, rolling hills, and a scenic lakefront in Middleville, New Jersey, Camp Hoover offers a perfect retreat for campers entering first through 12th grade. This serene environment invites campers to unplug, embrace independence, and connect with nature while making lifelong memories and friendships.

The camp’s pristine lake is at the heart of its programming, offering campers countless opportunities to enjoy water-based adventures. Whether canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, or rowing, campers develop confidence, teamwork, and a love for the great outdoors. The lakefront also serves as a gathering place for fun-filled games and quiet moments of reflection, allowing campers to soak in the beauty of their surroundings.

Sleepaway camp runs from July 6 through August 16, with sessions starting on Sunday and ending on Saturday each week.

Open to campers entering first grade through 12th grade.

Beyond the water, Camp Hoover provides a wide variety of activities to engage campers of all ages and interests. Hiking scenic trails through the forest challenges campers to explore and connect with the natural environment. Horseback riding offers an unforgettable opportunity to bond with animals while learning riding techniques in a supportive setting. Campers can also test their skills and precision at the archery range, engage in arts and crafts, or participate in team-building activities that foster cooperation and resilience.

With progressive programming, Camp Hoover ensures that each camper experiences activities tailored to their skill level and age. Younger campers build foundational skills and gain confidence through guided activities, while older campers take on leadership roles and advanced challenges. This approach helps campers grow at their own pace, encouraging personal discovery and growth throughout their time at camp.

The camp’s experienced and dedicated staff are at the core of what makes Camp Hoover special. Many are lifelong Girl Scouts who bring their enthusiasm and commitment to every aspect of the camp experience. They create a nurturing and inclusive environment where campers feel supported as they try new things, overcome challenges, and celebrate their successes.

Traditional Girl Scout values are infused into every aspect of life at Camp Hoover. Campers participate in time-honored traditions such as campfire songs, flag ceremonies, and leadership activities that instill courage, confidence, and character. These traditions create a sense of belonging and pride while fostering connections with peers and the larger Girl Scout movement.

Camp Hoover is not just a place for fun and adventure; it’s a space where campers develop life skills, form lasting friendships, and gain a deeper appreciation for nature. Whether paddling across the lake, exploring a forest trail, or leading their peers in a group activity, every camper leaves Camp Hoover with a stronger sense of self and a lifetime of memories.

With its tranquil natural setting, diverse activities, and commitment to personal growth, Camp Hoover provides an unparalleled summer experience. It’s a place where girls grow into leaders, connect with nature, and embrace the transformative power of the outdoors.
