This past weekend, my family and I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Winter Spectacular at Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville PA.
As we stepped out of the car, the air was filled with laughter and excitement from other children and families coming together to experience the wonder. My grandson’s face lit up with delight and pulled at our hands in eager anticipation to go see the lights.
The zoo had been transformed into a canvas of vibrant colors and pulsating lights. Light shows have become a staple of our family's entertainment during the holidays; this one did not disappoint. My grandson started in his wagon, but soon had to get out and have some fun on some walk-on-light steps and the fun began.
As you walk through the lights, some of our favorites were a fun interactive garden of flowers that, when you stood under them, would light up and open, an animated Santa and his reindeer telling a story, a massive light archway that glimmered with every hue imaginable, and our favorite, a beautiful blue and white centerpiece taken from a scene of Winter Wonderland, where Elsa and Anna have been known to appear. And, my favorite part, was the excitement of catching an adorable little screech owl that had come out of his enclosure to say hello!
There was also a spot to get some snacks, we chose a smores package sat by the fire pits, and enjoyed some hot chocolate before finishing up our walk-through.
Attractions like this invite us to pause, enjoy, and marvel at the art of illumination. My family enjoyed the magic of this light show and has created lasting memories that shimmer long after the show is over.
